Re: Indiana and gay marriage
I guess since we're on the topic...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you guys are saying homosexuality is a sin, right?
I don't think homosexuality is a sin. Jesus never said anything about homosexuality himself. The verses that are against it are picked out from the Old Testament, or are references to the Old Testament. The Old Testament also says to stone rebellious sons, do we do that today? Jesus formed a new covenant and never said homosexuality was bad. He didn't say it was good either, so I think it's a non-issue, and not a sin.
On the actual topic though, religion aside. If Arizona had passed this law about allowing people to not serve African Americans, or disabled people, then the country would be in outrage. There would be no question that that would be wrong.
So why is one form of discrimination accepted, and the others are not? If you're going to say that it is because your religion is against it, the Old Testament also allows slavery. So, because that is in the Bible, does that make it okay to have slaves? No, no it does not. So why is one part of the Old Testament right, (against homosexuality) and the others (like stoning children and slavery) are wrong? Jesus formed a new covenant, the Old Testament does not. Freaking. Apply.
Good. Glad I could get that off my chest. Thank you for your time, if you're still reading this.

No I'm still with you!
I'm not so sure that homosexuality IS a sin. I mean, I don't have like alot of gay friends but those I do have tell me that they didn't choose homosexuality ... they just are. So that would mean that God created them that way. Soooo... yea I just can't bring myself to go there yet.
And totally agree with you on the descrimination thing, Cody.
