Stem Cell Research.

What are your views, and why?

I'm all for it because it's beneficial

I am all for it too. Think of the medical advances made by scr? They will soon find a cure for cancer with it, they can already cure diabetis with stem cells, but it costs too much!

I think that we should continue to save lives with stem cells, because why not help them if we have that choice.

I am definitely for stem cell research. Some people don't agree with it because they say that it is killing something that could possibly be a human later. But that is wrong in a way. Scientists use the embryonic cells that would have otherwise been thrown in a trash, so no matter what decision is made, the embryo still wouldn't have developed into a human. So why not take the opportunity to save another human's life out of it.

Some would argue that Stem Cell research is like abortion. Any pro-life-ers and pro-stem cell people care to explain?

eric, i am pro-life..... i still agree with Stem Cell research because the embryo would be going to waste anyway, so why not help other people out..

but helping a fourteen year old being raped, and not wanting to have a baby...

but what does what does that have anything to do with stem cell research....

well, they could all become babies. idk.. maybe it's just me. they are the same in my eyes.

but the ones used for stem cell research cant become babies, because they are the discarded ones that would be thrown in the trash otherwise.

Eric, 14 year old girls that get raped usually have the baby, because their rapist holds them captive.

Not all stem cells come from embryo's some come from bone marrow, and others from blood cells, so not all stem cell research is about "killing a baby"

Also, when people have an abortion(please don't start debating this here) they are getting rid of a baby in the first place, so we could use their stem cells since they don't want children. Also Kyle is exactly right there are embryo stem cells and adult stems cells, so we aren't really killing any babies if we use adult stem cells.

that's exactly what i think too. like what our teacher said in biology, someone took a stem cell from a tooth and built a whole nervous system from it. so its not like embryos are the only option.

but, sarah, he also said that embryoic stem cells have a more successful rate.

yes eric, i know that. but other stem cells could also be just as successful, theres just a lower chance for that.

if there is a person dying of cancer, i'm NOT gonna take the chances!

it doesnt have to be a person dying for just cancer. it should be any kind of disease and it should be helped. we have the technology to help cure it, so why not use it.

my grandpa had prostate cancer. guess what. radiation didn't work, and neither did chemo. thanks for offending me. these things don't work every time.

We are still testing different stem cells to come up for a cure I have had about 3 people in my family die of cancer and none of them did stem cells because they still need research for it...we will never find a cure if we don't get he chance to test different stem cells
