what do I do?

ok, so i've known this boy(erick maggie and other people i know! dont u dare say who!) since 5th grade and i like him...a lot. I don't want to date him i just want to know if he likes me back without him knowing that i like him or his friends. this is mission impossible for me and i need help! BIG TIME!
