Eating Disorder Information
Eating disorders can be, and are, very destructive to a persons body, sometimes even costing the person the ultimate price, their life.
This article is written to raise awareness on these potentially life threatening conditions, so you can spot the signs, and help that person on their road to recovery from the weight gained or lost.
ANOREXIA NERVOSA
Anorexia Nervosa (or just anorexia) might be the most destructive, and most deadly. Anorexia is when a person starves themselves so they can lose weight. Some people who think themselves to be fat will starve themselves to make them slimmer, so that way they can “fit in”. Some people use it as a way of self harm, since starving yourself can cause stomach pains.
BULIMIA NERVOSA
Bulimia Nervosa (or Bulimia) goes hand and hand with Binge Eating. People who are Bulimic will, after eating, whether Binge Eating or just a regular meal, induce vomiting, sometimes to “repent” for Binge Eating, or sometimes to self harm via dry heaves and stomach pain from starvation, or they may just be Anorexic and trying to make it appear otherwise.
BINGE EATING DISORDER
Binge Eating is one of the reasons so many kids are obese these days. Binge Eating is when you eat and eat and eat and eat, trying to eat your problems away. It turns into a vicious cycle: You get upset, you binge eat, you gain weight, you get bullied, you get upset, etc.
DIABULIMIA
Diabulimia is not recognized by medical diagnoses, but is a problem either way, and it might just be the worst one of all. Diabulimia is when people that have diabetes try to manipulate insulin levels to control their weight. This one is probably the worst of all because 10ml over your body’s natural insulin levels can be fatal.
