Running

I pull my hair pack
Making a bouncy tail upon my head
Intensity picks up as I pin my number on
The pin grazes my stomach
Then punctures my uniform again
I repeat one more time
As my hearts pumps with adrenaline

Then my heart pumps harder, and harder
I put my foot to the line
I erase everything thought from mind
Just focusing on my goal
Just focusing on the course set ahead of me

I take one last sprint out
As I warm up my legs
I feel like a tiger ready to pounce

My legs start to shake
As the official walks in the middle of the start path
I jump up and pump my legs
The initial sign that I am ready

BANG!
My mind goes blank
My legs go numb
I am off!

The air whizzes by
Touching my skin
Ever so slightly

All I see now is the path ahead
And I am ready to finish it off
