I think mods, mega mods, admins etc. Should be voted for by everyone not just the staff.

Nope. It comes down to admins and mega mods and current mods, to decide who moves into staff and moves up.

With this kind of election process it leads to favoritism. Not who is active and can get the job done.

If you have just the staff vote, it is a smaller group and is more prone to playing favorites than the "population" as a whole.

Nope. Again we thought about it but, It becomes favriouts.

Plus sometimes we just pick.

Then just pick. Dont have them send in applications. Some people, like me, want to be a mod, but are not very good at writing a application.

We want applications. so that we can get a variety of people, and get a feel for our community and see who would be good for the future

Now, to the topic at hand. This actually made me laugh. No offense to Derri, or Sarah, but I don't think they would have became moderators. I picked both of them because they are very good at stating their opinions. They stand by what they say, which isn't a likable quality to few. This would be a popularity contest.
