Maybe you could make it so that each + rep adds to your score and each -rep takes some away?
Just a random thought.

EDIT- I see. but, nah, rep and points shouldn't be that closely put together, because then the most popular people would have the most points.

as in if i + rep you you would gain 5 points or something
and if i - rep you would would lose 5

nice idea, but like i said, most popular people would have way too many points than deserved

don't know if it will be possible in the first place...

How does the points system work at the moment, and what can you use them on?

Here is a thought to ponder:

Joining the forum - 500 points
Starting a new topic - 100 points
Replying to a topic - 50 points
Make a signature - 10 points

You could then "use" points to change profile picture, color of text, name change etc?

No points awarded in The Fun Zone

Everyone else then would need to get caught up on what points they are owed

That would give the admin something to sort out Derri, but it is do able

It would, but it would also be difficult because I think then they would have to work it out manual adding points on because I cant remember if there is a "auto" like function, However I do know you can add points on or take them away if needed. So overall if it has to be done maunal it would take forever,

Also the admins might not be able to do all you suggested unless they can configure to do so, because if there is no auto way to take away then they themselves would have to do it for us, and as the site grows it would become very annoying for both users and staff

looking at the Points configuration in the ACP, it doesn't look like any of the using points will work

it's like this

Gain per profile message
Gain per friend
Gain per day since registration

then there is the list of the forum sections and text boxes where you can enter in the number of points you can get per post and topic.

wish you COULD do more with points...but yeah :/

Then what is the points system really for then, like what can we do with it and why do we have it?
