Butterflies

I loved last summer so much.
It'll never come back.
One day I sat in the fields
And cried for those past memories.
A butterfly landed on my shoulder
And told me to forget my grief.
And to forgive those who didn't care.
But I wanted my memories to be real again.
One day I woke up in the wonderland I didn't notice before.
I was back where I was,
So close from what fluttered out of my grasp.
I caught that butterfly,
and I felt the weight of my grief lift
But I questioned what I had.
And the fabric of my dreams
came tumbling down.
